How can organizers engage the faithful in a meaningful and authentic way to contribute to the broader social movements for justice? Just ask Alexia Salvatierra, co-author of Faith-Rooted Organizing: Mobilizing the Church in Service to the World. In it, the authors lay the foundation for a type of community organizing that motivates young people of faith to organize their communities for doing deeper grassroots justice. This model has been critical for immigration reform work with evangelical Christians in places like the Orange County. Join us for a book talk on both the theory and practice to guide the faithful into paths of engagement for justice.

ALEXIA SALVATIERRA is an ordained pastor, seasoned organizer, and former Executive Director of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE-LA). She is currently a consultant with an appointment in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and at several seminaries and universities.
